IVF with egg donation

TREATING INFERTILITY

Have you decided to go ahead with the in vitro procedure with an adoption of an ovum? You are in the right place! Our coordinators will guide you through the whole process step by step. We will set a date of your flight to Poland and plan visits in the Clinic and we will provide you with comprehensive information at every stage of the treatment.

In vitro fertilization with the ovum adoption is a solution for couples where the woman is diagnosed with infertility. The adoption of an egg from an anonymous donor is a chance to experience pregnancy and giving birth. We will help you to become parents!

For whom?

The in-vitro procedure with a donor’s ovum is available in our clinic to women under the age of 49.

Selection of a donor

The donors of ova are young and healthy women who, in most cases, already have children, and who qualified for the program. The selection of the donor is based on the health status assessment and the determination of phenotype features, such as height, physique, hair structure type, eye color and blood type.

Effectiveness

According to the Ministry of Health report, Salve Medica’s infertility treatment program is the most effective – No. 1 in the report.

IVF IN SIMPLE STEPS

  1. If after the first conversation with the consultant you decide to make the first appointment in Salve Medica clinic, you should plan the travel. During your stay we will plan the treatment and perform the necessary tests, and the prospective father will be able to donate sperm for freezing.
  2. Rest at home. After a few days we will call to inform you about the test results. We will ask you to complete a survey concerning the donor’s phenotype. After matching you with an appropriate donor, we start preparing her for ova donation and then collect the egg cells. Afterwards we start the fertilization process. In our clinic we use both fresh and vitrified oocytes. In the first case, fresh cells are fertilized right after egg retrieval from the donor. In the second case, the fertilization process is adjusted to the schedule of the set procedure.
  3. After about 5 days we will call to inform you about the number of created embryos. Your journey has just begun for good.
  4. Pack for a longer stay, the second visit will take 14 days. First we will plan the transfer of embryos and you will receive the necessary medication. In most cases, you will be implanted with 1 or 2 embryos. The rest is vitrified (frozen) and they await the next procedure.
  5. During this visit, our experts will test your endometrial lining every 5 days, and finally the embryo/s will be transferred.
  6. Finally at home! About two weeks later, please have a pregnancy test and inform us about your results.

DID YOU TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST? INFORM US ABOUT ITS RESULT

Did you take a pregnancy test? Inform us about the result. We will provide you with information about next actions and tests you should do. The pregnancy can by monitored by your local ob-gyn doctor. Do not hesitate to ask us if you have any additional questions. Our infertility treatment coordinator will gladly provide answers.

THINK ABOUT BIOLOGICAL SIBLINGS

Are you pregnant? Do you want to secure eggs from the same donor, so that in the future you can attempt to have biological siblings of your child? In Salve Medica we can help you with that. Ask the coordinator about the details of the procedure.

FAQ

1. How many oocytes will I get for fertilization?

You can decide between two packages –

  1. Normal package: 3-4 fresh or frozen eggs

  2. Big package: 6-8 fresh or frozen eggs

Both packages have the same procedures included:

  1. Screening test for men

  2. Sperm freezing before the program,

  3. ICSI,

  4. Blastocyst culture,

  5. AH - assisted hatching

  6. Embryo transfer

  7. Vitrification of remaining embryos,

  8. Storage of the remaining embryos for one year

Packages differ only with the number of eggs and embryos guaranteed in the program.

Packages do not include:

  1. Visits.

  2. Screening test for women (because each woman is different and her medical history can also be different).

2. What are IVF egg donation treatment options in your clinic? Fresh or frozen eggs?

We have two possibilities. You can choose either a frozen cycle or a fresh cycle. Egg donation treatments in Salve Medica are available in two packages

  1. 3-4 fresh or frozen eggs – 4000€
  2. fresh or frozen eggs – 4500€

3. Which is more successful, fresh or frozen embryos?

Currently, pregnancy success rates of vitrified cycles are comparable to those of fresh cycles. This applies to both embryos and oocytes.

Survival rates for frozen eggs (oocytes) today is very high thanks to vitrification. It is an ultra-rapid process of freezing. In order to do successfully, the technique involves a fair amount of experience and expertise - and that's guaranteed by our embryologists.

4. How do you screen your egg donors?

First, they complete a brief application form on our website. Their next step is to meet with one of our coordinators for an initial consultation.

  • Egg donors are healthy young women – between 20-35 years old
  • Interview - phenotype and interests/skills:  donor race, age, blood type & Rh factor, eye color, hair color, hair structure, height, weight, education, athletic skills/favorite sports, musical skills,
  • previous delivery is preferred but not essential
  • detailed medical history form which covers donor’s general health status, such as surgeries, gynecological and family history
  • comprehensive gynecological exam
  • screening tests related to mental health, medical and genetic history, and sexually transmitted infections, infectious diseases.

5. What is the maximum patient's age allowed?

Salve Medica  Clinic operate according to recommendations of international medical associations and for most of them the maximum age for egg donation is 49.

6. How donors and recipients are selected in Poland?

We do all to engineer the best similarity between our patients and our donors. The most important features to be matched with the donor include blood type, phenotype features, height, weight, color of eyes and hair, education, allergies and genetic history.

7. How many appointments there will be during one cycle?

The minimum number of visits would be not less than two.  At the beginning we should meet to perform a gynecological examination to look at all test results and to perform an ultrasonography scan, to collect the partner’s sperm.  If everything is fine, and we decide to prescribe medication - the medicines are taken at home - then the next visit should be after about seven days of preparing the endometrial lining of your uterus. You will have to come again to Poland for a couple of days, when we find that the endometrium thickness is enough to prepare the transfer.

8. What information do we get about the donors?

The recipients of sperm or egg donation can find out about donor’s blood type while undergoing the treatment. A fertility clinic will match the donor and recipient on ethnicity, race, hair color, hair structure, weight, height, body build, eyes color and blood type.  As for a person born as a result of assisted reproductive treatment, once they reach 18 years of age, they can find out some details about the donor such as the date of birth of the donor, the place of birth of the donor and the results of the examinations the donor went through while preparing for the donation process. Personal data of donors is fully anonymous. Data is held in compliance with local European laws and the strictest privacy regulations.

9. Need to travel with/without a partner

Your partner usually donates sperm at the first visit, or his semen is picked up through a medical procedure (surgery) to freeze it for the future fertilization.

Your next visit will be for preparation and implantation of the embryos in the uterine cavity (embryo transfer) and it’s up to you whether you want to travel together with your partner or not.

10. Possibility to perform procedure for homosexual couples or women who are not in a relationship (legal conditions).

The IVF egg donation law and legislation in Poland prohibits procedures IVF for the same sex parents and does not allow IVF for single women.
